What is CALvin?

It’s a program that automatically logs you in to the University of Dallas WiFi. CALvin stands for Captive Auto Login and Verification of Identity for the Network (whew!).

I want it!

It’s simple:

  1. Download the program
  2. Extract the program from calvin.zip
    • On Windows, right click calvin.zip and select “Extract Here”
    • On macOS, double click calvin.zip
  3. Run CALvin by double clicking calvin.jar
    • If you’re on a more recent macOS, right click and select ‘Open’ instead
  4. Enter your username and password and click Submit
  5. Congratulations! You should never have to log in to UDair again!

Current status: Beta

Currently, CALvin is in beta. That means that we’re making it public, but we don’t want to declare it as stable yet. You can help us by becoming a beta tester. Simply download and install it on your computer, then report any bugs you find to ud.calvin.beta@gmail.com.

System requirements

Operating System

Java 1.8.0 or later is also required.

Public Service Announcement!

If your password for the WiFi or your udallas.edu email address is your student ID (900 number), please change it now. You can change your WiFi password by logging into the computers in the print lab and changing your password on those computers. Make sure you use different passwords for your email, the WiFi, and any other service you use. Consider using a password manager to keep track of these.

Also, if you’re using Internet Explorer, don’t.

Who made this?

CALvin is a product of the ACM Student Chapter at the University of Dallas. We owe thanks to the UD Computer Science program for teaching us the skills needed to make software.

Join our club! Besides making cool things like CALvin, we host learning events on various topics related to computers and programming. Join us on Crusader Connect to receive updates about exciting upcoming events.

FAQ

How about a version for mobile?

Mobile is more difficult. We would have to get our app into various app stores and make it work for different platforms. Still, maybe if there’s enough interest!
